About Jennifer 'JJ' Jareau

Jennifer Jareau is portrayed by AJ Cook in the television series Criminal Minds. JJ works in the Behavioral Analysis Unit with a team of profilers. She however is not a profiler, and instead acts as the team's liason with the media and local police agencies. She once went on a date with Reid to a Washington Redskins game, but little came of it romantically. JJ graduated from East Allegheny High School near Pittsburgh, PA, where she was the captain of the varsity soccer team her senior year and earned an athletic scholarship to the University of Pittsburgh. Towards the end of season three of Criminal Minds, JJ revealed that she was pregnant with Detective William LaMontagne Jr's baby. In the episode "The Instincts," she learns that she is having a boy, and in the following episode, JJ gives birth to a baby boy named Henry. Garcia and Reid are named Henry's godparents. In a season four episode, it was revealed that she attended Georgetown. In the same episode, JJ tells Rossi that she decided to join the FBI after attending one of his book readings at the campus library during her senior year of college. She said she didn't know what to do with her life until she listened to his reading, and applied to the Academy the next fall.
